Highland View PTO:  Welcome Back Breakfast!

Hello Highland View Families!

It's that time again!  You're all invited to join in the PTO's traditional:

Boo-hoo/Woo-hoo Welcome Back Breakfast

As always, it'll be the first day of school, September 1st. (Thursday) as soon as the kids get into school.

We'll set up "Cafe Highland View" in the school playground and you can catch back up with the friends and families you've missed over the summer.  Cry if you miss the kids, or cheer for the new year.  We're there for you either way!

If anyone is available to help set up, let me know!

See you at school,

Aleks Skibicki

Highland View PTO:  Welcome Back! We're hitting the ground running!

Hello Highland View Families!
Here we are, ready to go,
These are the first things you should know:

1)  Congratulations to the Highland View Kicking Crew parents/alumni kickball team--they're our Greendale Kickball Champions!  They won the championship game in a 3-0 shutout, great job!  We'll have to get ready for the repeat next year!

2)  Meet Your Teacher Day is this WEDNESDAY, August 24th.  As is our tradition, starting at 5:30 PM, the PTO will be serving ice cream outside, so stick around!  We'll have bases and kickball set up for the kids, and soccer balls to play with on the fields too.  Bring a picnic dinner and stay until dusk when we'll have a movie and popcorn outside too!

If anyone can help scoop ice cream starting at 5:30, that would also be SUPER appreciated.  The more scoopers we have, the faster the lines go!

3)  The first PTO meeting is Monday September 12th.  We'll start at 6:00 in the Highland View Library as usual.  We'll approve the budget for this year, and get the fun rolling.  Family Dinner Night is coming up sooner than it feels like, so you can check in to join Ms. Settle in planning that awesome event.

4)  Save the date:  October 23rd is this year's Step Up To Better Health Fun Run.  In 2015 Highland View won the participation trophy for the first time in many many many years, so let's keep the streak alive!  Do you think we can talk Mrs. Flater into getting back in the dunk tank in 2016?

5)  Save the (other) date:  September 13th is our first "Dine Out For Highland View" night of the 2016-2017 school year.  On the 13th, when you visit Panda Express on 76th street (by Southridge) and bring in the flyer your student will bring home from school, Highland View will get a portion of your purchase price!  So, save yourself some time making dinner that night, and help our school at the same time!

That's all for now!  I can't wait to see you all again this Wednesday for Meet Your Teacher Night!

Highland View PTO:  Too soon?  Never!  Also:  Kickball emergency and Meet Your Teacher events

Hello Highland View Families!

I hope summer is going well.  The email for online registration reminded me that we have some PTO stuff coming up in August, and you're all invited!

But first:  Kickball emergency!
Our Highland View parents kickball team is still short 5 players for the Greendale Education Foundation tournament!!!! (We added some players, but we lost some.)  Our two guaranteed games (if we are awesome we'll play a championship game later) are on Saturday August 13th at:

10:00 AM at the baseball field next to Walgreens on Southway against the Highland View Teachers team!!

and

11:15 AM at the baseball field across the street from GHS (Jaycees park) against a team of Canterbury families.

Please join in!  It will be a ton of fun--our kids got to play against the teachers, now so will we.  And it'll be a great time to mix it up with the Canterbury families afterward too.  Please (super please!) join in and let me know if you're coming.  If you're now a GMS parent, you're invited too--once you're in the family, you'll always be welcome!

Second:  Meet Your Teacher Day is coming up in a few weeks--August 24th.  As has become a tradition, the PTO will host an ice cream bar (along with some veggies from the garden) starting at 5:30.  Bring a picnic dinner and hang out while the kids play and catch up with old friends, then stick around for an outdoor movie at dusk (8:45?).  We're taking submissions for movie ideas, so feel free to write in with your family's choices!

Keep cool everyone!
