The PTO provides for programs designed to enhance each grade’s current curriculum, provides teachers with additional
materials not covered in the school’s budget, and hosts many family-fun and community events.

Planning/Historical Materials
Many events have a planning binder passed on from past chairs each year. To get your planning binder, contact PTO President Aleks Skibicki at kwaterk1978@yahoo.com or 423-1224.

Budget
The budget for your event/activity/project can be found on the organization’s budget distributed at membership meetings. Speak with a member of the executive board for clarification about shared budget items. When making purchases, PTO members can be authorized to use the Highland View PTO tax exempt number so they don't have to pay state and local sales tax.  Contact Aleks Skibicki at kwaterk1978@yahoo.com for details.

Reimbursement
To get reimbursement for expenses or to get a check for costs yet to be expended, put receipts or bills in the officers’ blue mail folder in the PTO mailbox (HV office). Make sure that you attach a note to any bill or receipt indicating the name of the person being reimbursed and the activity/event to be charged. Questions can be addressed to PTO Treasurer Megan Mermal at mmermal@gmail.com.

Volunteers
The list of parents who expressed an interest in volunteering for your event will be sent to you in September. There are two additional email lists if you need more help: 1) make or donate food for events, and 2) volunteers for odds and ends. These email lists can be used to send mass emails for additional recruitment (either through direct contact, or through Sign Up Genius or Volunteer Spot websites). If you need a copy of your event list or a copy of the email lists, contact PTO Secretary Aleks Skibicki at kwaterk1978@yahoo.com.

Promotion
·         Weekly school newsletter – Submit a paragraph to Mrs. Flater for inclusion in the weekly newsletter (by noon on Wednesday for Friday newsletter)
·         Bulletin board(s) – Information can be posted on the small bulletin board upstairs near the office entrance (Aleks Skibicki coordinates) or the bulletin board downstairs near the gym west side entrance.
·         Flyers home in Friday folders – Prior to copying, all flyers being sent home must receive district approval, which can be facilitated by Mrs. Flater (allow at least three days). Check with Shana in the HV office for a count of how many flyers are needed (1 per family, sent home with the youngest child). Copies can be made on the school copier (copier card is located in the PTO mailbox in the school office).

Supplies
The PTO has a supply closet located just inside the gym entrance. There are supplies for many events here, labeled as such, as well as some general supplies.
