Highland View PTO:  I almost forgot!

Why couldn't the music teacher get into the school?
The piano had all her keys!

Hello Highland View Families!

Looking over the notes from Monday, I forgot one big announcement for the night:

Congratulations Mrs. Weber for winning the PTO attendance prize for the night!   Mrs. Weber had the most parents in attendance thanks to Matt's mom and dad and Lucy's mom, so she won a Learning Store gift card just in time for the holidays!

Thanks for getting your parents out and involved Mrs. Weber!  Remember everyone, there's a prize every month--the teacher with the most parents in attendance (minimum 3) at each PTO meeting will get a Learning Store gift card!

Happy Holidays!

Highland View PTO:  Winter Wonderland Edition!

What did the snowman eat for lunch?
An Iceberger!

Hello Highland View Families!

A huge thanks to everyone that braved the cold and came out to our meeting on Monday.  It's exciting to hear about all the great things happening at our school and hear the new ideas that are brewing for our school!

Some highlights and important things to know from Monday:

1)  Great job on the Fun Run!  in addition to winning the "Most Participants" trophy again, the Fun Run earned our school $2,642.71!  You are all AMAZING!

2)  Thanks again to Sra. Bradley for organizing the All the World event last Friday.  It was such a great experience to meet other families and hear the pride in kids' voices as they shared about their heritage and culture.  Watching performances, and enjoying great food were so much fun.  Several school board members came to visit and the superintendent did too, and they were all blown away too.

3)  The School District surveys you all took over the last month have been recorded and tallied and the school district is establishing 3 committees to develop policy proposals to work on specific areas the survey identified as important to our community.  You can find information on that here.

4)  Neon Dance Night is coming up January 27th.  Does anyone know a kid-friendly DJ?  Our DJ from last year isn't able to do our dance again this year, so we're looking!  If you know someone, (or want to hep at the dance!) please contact Megan at mmermal@gmail.com .

5)  Crossing Guard Appreciation Week is coming up January 16-20 as well.  If you have ideas, or want to help, Erin is taking the lead this year!  Contact her at e311delta@gmail.com .

6)  Fun Fair anyone?  If you want to be part of a group putting together an idea for a Fun Fair Reboot this year, contact Amy Stroble at aimer@wi.rr.com .

7)  Finally, IMPORTANT LOCATION CHANGE FOR NEXT MONTH'S PTO MEETING!  because next month's PTO meeting overlaps with the January School Board meeting, AND because next month's school board meeting is going to include a "Highlights from Highland View" section, we decided to move the meeting over to Greendale High School!  I'll let you know what room as soon as I get it reserved.  We'll meet at 6:00, as usual, and then afterwards, people are encouraged to stick around and see the school board hear how awesome Highland View is!

Thanks for reading this far!

Hello Highland View Families!

Just one final reminder for our next two dates:

1)  The world-famous All the World Event is coming up in a couple hours!  See you there!  It's always an awesome awesome time.  Enjoy performances, crafts, food, and fun while learning about the different cultures and families we have in our Highland View Family. (6-8PM)

2)  Our December PTO meeting is Monday!  Let's wrap up the year in style!  It's been a really great 2016, and it's been awesome to be a part of it with you all.  But 2017 has some great stuff coming up!  Neon Dance Night is 1/27 and Crossing Guard Appreciation Week is coming up in January too. And from there it's rocking events and fun straight through to June! (6PM in the Highland View library.)

See you soon!

Hello Highland View Families!

This Friday, December 9th, is Highland View's Greendale-famous All the World Festival.  I just received an urgent message from Mrs. Bradley who is coordinating it again this year (thanks Mrs. Bradley!)

"Hi Aleks!

I only have about 3 staff members that can help on Friday! Do you have any parents that can volunteer and help?! I have a few HS and Middle school students that can help too, but it would be great if I could have about 4 parent volunteers total so there are people and supervision in all the right places! Please let me know! Thank you thank you!

All the best,

Mrs. Jessica Bradley
jessica.bradley@greendale.k12.wi.us"

Can you help?  Please contact Mrs. Bradley at jessica.bradley@greendale.k12.wi.us !  This would be a great way to be involved in this truly amazing event, even if you weren't able to bring or share some cultural experience.

Thank you so much!  See you Friday!

Highland View:  You are the world!

What goes all around the world, but never leaves its corner?

Hello Highland View Families!

Just a quick reminder that Highland View's world-famous "All the World" festival is approaching on December 9th.

Please please consider taking this opportunity to share something from a culture you're connected to, whether by heritage, or even just by interest!  In the past, students and families have danced, shared poetry, stories, food, or even displays of information, crafts, games, and artifacts from cultures they were connected to.

If you have an idea, turn in the blue "All the World" flyer that was sent home a couple weeks ago and we'll get it on the schedule.  (If you need a new one, let me know!)

This is one of the events that makes Highland View a very special place, and our students are so proud when they have a chance to show off something from their heritage that makes them special.  If you have questions, or if there is something we can do to help you share an experience with our Highland View family, please let me know!
