Highland View PTO:  Birthdays and Books!

Hello Highland View Families!
This one's a shorty but a goodie!

1)  It's Book Fair time again!  Remember Book Fairs?  They're the BEST!  Cheryl, the book fair coordinator asked me to send out a request for help at our Fall Book Fair, the week of 10/24-10/28.

Mostly we'll need cashiers during the three selling times:  8:00-8:45 AM, 11:30-12:45 PM, and 3:15-4:00 PM.  It's pretty easy--just zap books and give change.  If you've never done it before, we'll show you the ropes!  You may also need to help students figure out how much they can afford with the money they were sent with.  You may also choose to gently prompt students to choose books instead of $20 of erasers and toys.  If there are multiple parents at any given shift, it would be great to have a parent circulating to help answer questions and find things for the shoppers.

We'll also need a cashier during Family Dinner Night on the 28th, and hopefully some help cleaning up the Book Fair afterwards.

Sign up for the October Book Fair  here!

2)  Birthdays!  Birthdays!  Birthdays!  Our Highland View students love seeing their names up on the Birthday Bulletin Board.   The PTO is in charge of the Birthday Board downstairs and here's your chance to make a bunch of kids happy!  We have lots of supplies and bulletin board materials, so feel free to get creative and crazy with it!  Pick a month to sign up here, and when that month rolls around I'll get you the names and birthdays for the board and show you where the PTO supplies are kept.

3)  One more LASTER chance for the Fun Run!  OK everyone. this is serious.  Serious.   At this precise moment, Highland View has exactly eight fewer participants registered for the Fun Run than we did last year.  Coincidentally, our margin of victory for the Participation Trophy was three (3!)  By the imaginary powers granted to me, I am hereby extending the deadline for Fun Run Registration through Friday 10/7.  Just email me the number of people participating from your family and their T-Shirt sizes ( Youth S-L, Adult S-XXL) and I'll get it locked in.  Then you can print up a form here, or turn in the form that was sent home from school as soon as you can.

Our next meeting is Monday 10/10, and there's a lot of fun stuff coming up!  I can't wait to see you there.  I'll bring cookies again!
